Tas Animal Hospitals Sorell is a purpose built Veterinary Hospital, which has been providing the highest standard, compassionate veterinary care to the animals of Sorell and surrounding areas since 1982.

It is located just off the main road with an abundance of parking at the side of the building for your convenience.

We are always committed to providing your pets with the highest quality veterinary care available and our combined experience in animal care totals 170 years! Our goal is to make a ‘trip to the vet’ an enjoyable one for you and your pet.

We ensure excellence by utilizing the latest in veterinary technology. This combined with a team of dedicated, caring vets and nurses who regularly pursue post grad veterinary training and education, means we can deliver to our clients the highest standard of care in the region.

Tas Animal Hospital Sorell is a high standard medical and surgical practice fully equipped to handle all the problems and emergencies with your pets, be they dogs, cats, rabbits, birds or even the occasional snake, in the most caring, compassionate way possible.

Head Veterinary Nurse

Jacinta has been 17 years in the industry and starting with Tas Animal Hospitals 2002.

 

She is a Cert 2 Veterinary Nurse and her bubbly can do attitude is an asset to our customers and the team. She is pictured here with her gorgeous Greyhound ‘Berger’, whom she rescued from the Gap Program.

 

Jacinta is currently studying for her Cert IV in Veterinary Nursing.

 

A busy mum with 3 children, Jacinta loves her work at Tas Animal Hospitals. “ No 2 days are the same, I enjoy experiencing the relationships between pet owners and their pets and what we can do to enhance that relationship”.

Dr Lisa Readett

Dr Lisa Readett

Veterinarian, B AgSci(Hons), BVetSci(Hons)

Lisa is a respected veterinarian with over 30 years experience.

 

She works from Tas Animal Hospitals in Bellerive and Sorell and her patients love her!

 

Lisa has completed extra training in oncology and has a special interest in this field.

 

Lisa has 2 grown up children, and was tickled pink when her daughter announced she wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps and is currently studying to be a vet!

 

Lisa loves to help people and their pets, with a special interest in medicine and a gift for problem solving. Her hobbies are horses, reading and gardening. Lisa is also an International show jumping judge and has judged at the Australia

Championship.

She is pictured with her adorable Lexie, a West Highland Terrier.

 

Lisa says “ my reward in animal care is seeing positive results and happy healthy pets”.

Dr Rob Callaway

Veterinarian, BVMS BSc

Destined to be a Veterinary Doctor, Dr Callaway was drawn to the vocation at the age of 4. At this very young age telling his parents he wanted to be a vet because wanted to help animals. Pure and simple!

 

Dr Callaway graduated from Murdoch University 1993 and worked in the UK as a Locum for 2 years from 1996-1998 taking the opportunity to travel through Africa and Europe during that time.

 

DDr Callaway has been practicing for 26 years, joining Tas Animal Hospitals in 1998 and becoming a partner in 2003.

 

Dr Callaway is our Hospital Director at Sorell, and enjoys working with his amazing team of nurses and has built amazing relationships with customers far and wide.

 

Dr Callaway has 2 lively children, a lovely and patient wife(!) 2 dogs (pictured here with Zak and Elkie) and 2 cats.

 

He is an out doorsy type and enjoys fishing, touch footy, gardening bush walking and wildlife photography. He thinks Music is proof that magic exists in the world.

 

Dr Callaway is passionate about canine and feline Veterinary medicine “the most interesting roller coaster ride of a job in the world, where you get to help both animals and people”

Kylie began nursing in 2004 and joined Tasmanian Animal Hospitals in 2009. She has an interest in anaesthesia but enjoys all aspects that nursing has to offer. Kylie finds it rewarding to have an impact on the health and wellbeing of our patients through sharing her knowledge and experience with our wonderful clients. She enjoys working in Sorell where we have a great number of regular clients that share their lives with us and trust us to care for their pets as we would our own.

Kylie is pictured with her dog Dio, the Lagotto Romagnolo. Dio is a very high energy dog that takes up most of Kylie’s time outside of work.

Penny has returned back to the TAH family after having a break and pursuing a career working in HR. After 12 months it was an easy decision to make to return to her career as a veterinary nurse as she missed working with pets and the enjoyment of building relationships with our clients. Penny has 1 cat called Mushroom and when not at work enjoys spending time with her 2 children, cooking and seeing the sights of Tasmania. Pennys main passions are surgery, critical care and customer service.

Jen Barlow

Senior Veterinary Nurse Cert IV

Jen is a qualified veterinary nurse Cert IV and has been nursing for 12 years. She joined Tas Animal Hospitals in 2007 and has two beautiful daughters Rose and Grace.

 

Jen has a firm belief that animals are an essential part of our culture and we (as humans) have a duty of care and are responsible for their physical and emotional well being.

 

Jen’s special interests are anesthetic care, management of arthritic patients and feline behavior.

 

You only have to see Jen’s face light up when she meets her patients to know her heart is in her vocation!

Lorene Newell

Client Services Officer

Lorene started at Tas Animal Hospitals in August 2016, beginning as a nurse studying cert 4 in Veterinary Nursing and now pursuing cert 3 in business and client services.

 

She grew up on the North West coast of Tasmania on a small farm surrounded by animal’s great and small, from ferrets, rats and mice to dogs, cats, sheep, goats, horses and much more. This is where her obvious love for animals grew. She now has two gorgeous Australian Shepherds, Oscar and Toby (pictured here) who take up most of her time enjoying adventures in the outdoors together.
